Fun Guitar Classes For All Ages

Smiling woman playing guitar

The desire to make music can sit for years under the surface. Then you get inspired by an amazing concert you saw, or hear a song that gets stuck in your head. The desire builds in energy, swelling to a peak like a wave. If you do nothing, the wave crashes, recedes, and sits under the surface again. It waits for its next opportunity to remind you of who you really are at your core.

Get carried away

What if you let that wave crash around you and take you to a place you’ve never let yourself go? That may mean joining a weekly book club or neighborhood soccer league. It might mean finally taking that painting class you’ve had your eye on. I can bet that there is something that either you’ve never tried, or you really want to try again.

recreational music making

With that said, I think it’s time someone encouraged you to make music! Even if you think you’re not talented, or you don’t want anyone to hear you, or you think there’s no point because you’ll never be famous or make any money at it (trust me, most professional musicians don’t make much money at it anyway).

Recreational music making is NOT about money or even talent, for that matter. It is about expressing yourself. It’s about finding a community of people who play music just for the fun of it. It’s about opening your heart and letting yourself be free. And I guarantee, that feeling will spill over into other parts of your life.

creative guitar

I started the Creative Guitar class for the woman who has wanted to play guitar for years, never getting the nerve to try. For the man who put the instrument in its case 15 years ago when moving across the country to start his family, and never took it out of the case again. For the college grad who sold his guitar in order to pay rent and  just recently considered buying an inexpensive Epiphone, with gig bag and tuner included, from someone on Facebook Marketplace.

Through the end of the year I challenge you to dust off those piano keys, change those guitar strings, pull that clarinet out of the basement, and just make one note. Then make another note. Play a chord. Then play the last song you remember learning. Take a deep breath, relax your muscles, open your heart, smile, and do it again…

It’s time to give in to the wave… it’s really time. Now is all there is…
